I think I started at around age 13 on an HP forum in my native language, but I didn't break into English RPGs until I was 17. Shee-it, I guess it's been almost 20 years.

I began my role playing adventures back in 1993 with my first table top game, a Star Wars dX game, I think it was, and got hooked. I didn't start play by post gaming until 2005, when a Guest to my first form mentioned how boring my site was (a fan shrine to Princess Ayeka). I thought up a plot involving the character of Tenchi Universe, and started a free form dialog. This would also be my first time being a Game Master. Needless to say, that I found the experience to be enjoyable. The best part? All the unhinged surprises the players would throw at me! We played that game for a couple of years, before ending the game and moving onto a new game because the characters nearly destroyed the universe! It was during this time that I discovered the Big Eyes Small Mouth role playing game (second revised edition at the time). To this day, I think that system is still my favorite.

  3. I technically started fairly young, like the others, but it was mainly confined to chat rooms. I wrote a lot of fantasy, but dabbled into dark/horror themes as well. I gave it up in High school/College as I thought that was something I 'had' to do. It wasn't until I graduated and was miserable in a relationship (at 25) that I decided to get back into it. Found an amazing community that helped me understand forum-based rp, and I've been exploring sites/stories ever since!
