How do you choose a thread title?

I either pick a saying, a song title or be really boring and just use a description of the thread (like "the brother and the sister"). I've seen some masterlist sites with a bunch of titles, but I don't use those often. I also sometimes accidentally use the title of another thread I've seen pass by because the title will get stuck in my head and I forget where I've seen it.

 

Song names are sometimes great for thread titles! Or using quest names from MMOs - sometimes there's some catchy ones there. There's a huge database of Wildstar quests (gosh I miss that game!) and some of them are so perfect for thread titles that I would've never been able to come up with on my own.

 

Usually I have music that I associate with a specific character, and I often find thread titles from their song titles/lyrics. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes I overthink it waaay too much.

definitely a song or a lyric i'm listening to at the time, but i'll sometimes just pick a random thing out of thin air and hope for the best!

 

Also team song lyrics. Sometimes I'll use a quote from the character or media for canons and fandom. Either that or just something short and sweet to describe the thread.
