When seismic activities alerted Earth's top research facilities to the imminent threat of a super volcano, situated in Iceland, the representatives of the two largest governments met in secret to discuss their options. Liang Yunxu, the Chinese general and the Russian president, Erik Orlov, decided to put aside their differences and combine their two empires creating the Asian-Russian Confederacy (ARC). They had one goal, and that was to use already available technology to terraform new planets away from Earth.

This unlikely alliance did not go unnoticed by the western world or Arabic states and news of the impending apocalyptic danger soon reached the ears of the USA and the UAE.

Panic spread throughout the globe causing unprecedented rioting and civil war across Europe, resulting in the beheading of the British monarchy, King George, his wife Princess Grace and eldest son William when rumours hit the internet that they were bribing Chinese officials for safe interstellar travel to their new planets.

While common citizens ransacked and looted, those with power were planning. It took another 5 years but ARC successfully terraformed six small planets and were negotiating travel and territory rights with the Arab and American authorities. It was agreed, although begrudgingly, that the USA and the UAE would each be able to have a planet solely for their own citizens as long as they used their own IS ships and agreed to be governed by ARC.

Desperate, all parties signed the new treaty, and so an empire was born.

It took another 7 months to organize the ships and tickets. Those who were "needed" in the new world were sent tickets. This mainly consisted of public figures, heads of medicine at prestigious hospitals, chartered engineers and scientists. These were mostly of Russian or Asian origin.

The rest of the tickets were auctioned off to the highest bidder. People paid millions of pounds to buy a ticket to their new home while some charities bought 3 or 4 tickets to give away to people randomly across the globe. Those who couldn't afford a ticket clung to their faith in the hope of a heavenly rescue that would never come. More than half of the world's population were left in the dust to die.

This RPG is set 130 years after Earth was abandoned, on the moon sized planet named Echo Blue, so named because of it's blue colour. It is the poorest of the six planets and has only one terraformed city. Echo Blue is the furthest planet away from Alpha Wan and therefore has the least ARC interference. This makes it the perfect port of call for smugglers and criminals. Echo Blue is home to wide range of people, taking in strays who have fled their home planet in order to have a more simpler life or just for those who like to tour the planets and see the sites. A hustling bustling city at the very edge of the universe.
