Self-hosting vs Free Hosted forums

Self-hosting. I've learned so much by going that route, and I was a virgin when it came to website building. So far its a baptism by fire, but agreed, you get a ton of customization.

 

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I can't tell you how many stories I have lost because they shut down without warning. I pay for self hosted through machighway and do their tri-annual billing so it's like 100 bucks for three years. Blackflame is a hobby for me so I just write it off as you would going out to dinner or buying something for yourself. It's cheap entertainment (bashing your head against a wall when code doesn't work right) but hey, thats me. It's my love of RP that I don't think I'll ever be able to let it go.
