Someone's also blown up the Leaky Cauldron and it's becoming a distinct possibility that the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes might be causing rather than cleaning up... We've also got an underground clinic for unregistered werewolves, tainted potions ingredients on the market, and office holiday parties! Come see. :)
We are coming up on our 12th year! One thing our community wants to be clear about is that while we can't completely extricate HP from its author we can take control of how we transform the canon and write our plots and characters. Absit Omen is explicitly welcoming of transgender characters and writers. To clear the cobwebs we are jumping forward to the Fall of 2012. This is a perfect time to bring your character. We're wrapping up old plots, coming up with new plots, and you'll be just in time to start at Hogwarts (if that's your thing). What's going on lately? School is in session and oh, the poor 'Nothingpuffs'! A unsorted Sorting Hat refused to sort, so Hogwarts staff are scrambling for a solution. At Hogwarts, active clubs include Dueling Club and a werewolf allies group. In the broader Wizarding World, there's legislation on the table to legalize consensual vampire bites, and there's been a Ministry raid on a werewolf night club. Your characters and ideas here! Absit Omen plots are created by the community. Also, note, our RPG Rating has changed from 212 to 222. We respect personal preferences for content and routinely tag content with sensitive subjects.
Big things coming to AO - in about a month, we're advancing the time-line five years. This gives established characters a fresh start, opens the door for new characters to jump in more easily, allows us more control over HP canon, and brings our setting into the (more) modern day. Also in the past year we've changed our rating to 333 and made the minimum age for writers 18. A community policy is in place to make sure sensitive topics are tagged and personal boundaries and preferences are respected.
We did the time skip and it feels super refreshing. Looking forward to a new international intrigue plot with spies in the USA, and continuing all the werewolf drama.
