Running Free is based loosely on Alice Borchardt's Silver Wolf Trilogy. Set in the age of Charlemagne - Charles the Great, our setting covers practically all of his empire at the highlight of his campaign. Although, a large portion of our story is set in Charles' Italy right before the Lombards were forced to step down from rule. Yet, even though we are set in such a rich and eventful time in history, the exact timeline of that history is not of great importance. What is important is the detailed lives of the people who slipped through the fingers of history - the people that went unnoticed. Like, the few who are cursed of having two forms. Man and Wolf.
Political movements, family strength through money and marriage, the adoration of the Catholic Church and continued love of the Pope were the highlight of many lives. These were the normal, everyday citizens of a empire trying to find itself amongst turmoil, disease and death. Underneath all that, there is a world that not many known of and even fewer speak of.
