After a major breach to the Statute of Secrecy, the world dissolved into war: The greatest war it had ever seen. Muggles battled witches; witches battled witches; humans battled beasts. To keep them safe from the war, children from all sides were evacuated to an island to wait out the war with a few "neutral" adults to keep them safe. As the war loomed larger and ever more dangerous, the end of the world seemed imminent. In a last-ditch effort to protect the island, one wizard set up a great barricade around the island. What happened next is known as "The Great Chasm." As the world was destroyed by apocalypse, the island, protected by the shield, ripped away and landed in its own, new dimension, separate from the old world.
This was the start of Year 1 in the New Era. A ministry was hastily created, comprised of the most respected rulers in the three major districts of what would come to be known as the Island of New Hope. Terrified that this new world might get destroyed like the previous one had, they spread the message that “Differences Destroy,” as well as a new plan to get every being on the island united under one rule. They opened Hope Crest Academy, which they welcomed every being, magical or non-magical, to attend.
But old feelings run deep. Though the ministry would like you to believe that these are the Children of Hope, they are also the Children of Loss, the Children of War. Will they give this island of new hope a chance, or will the prejudices of their parents live on in them? Only time will tell.
