In a time before time was measured, in the realm of Myrr, it is written that the gods lived among their children. The glittering towers and picturesque kingdoms of the ancient civilizations were said to stretch as far as the eye could see. However, such peace and beauty proved insignificant in the wake of greed and misdirected ambition. Each of the ancients deemed their god to be mightiest and as such, all others were not worthy of their worship. In their names, the Immortal War was waged. Thus beginning the Era of the Fall, 1000 years of war that would devastate even the farthest reaches of Myrr, reducing the great land to a shadow of what it once was.

From the ashes of the Immortal War the race of men arose. Mortal and almost devoid of magic, they were thought to be an example sent by the gods themselves. A punishment for straying from their favour. Ambitious, industrious, and most importantly underestimated, man grew and prospered faster than any of the ancient races could have fathomed. Despite being little more than villagers and slaves, they took up arms against the last Eld'Ori king to hold the Orelian throne and were victorious. Thinned by the war and far from the grace of their god, the Eld'Ori armies possessed only a shadow of their former power. They stood little chance of holding what remained of the city against the great number of men. In their arrogance, the city was lost and the Eld'Ori retreated to the Valeven feywild.

The realm of Myrr has known centuries of relative peace and prosperity, particularly for the race of men who have spread from the Western coastal kingdom of Orelia all the way across to the Eastern kingdom of Ilossa. All those who remembered the Immortal War have since been lost and the times of turmoil have been all but forgotten. But the wind has been changing and peace cannot last where ambition lies. There have been whispers of murdered kings, bad omens, and darker things from the farthest reaches of the lands. Dismissed as little more than superstitious nonsense, these warnings have fallen on deaf ears as man celebrates their 280th year on the throne of the gods.
