Do you have pets?

Discussion in 'Chatterbox' started by Daenelia, Aug 25, 2013.

  1. I have always had pets, ad currently we have 2 cats. They are awesome. We fot them from an animal shelter. Both cats are real rescue cats. One was found wandering the streets alone as a young kitten; the other was rescued from a cat-collector househole where 30+ cats lived.

I know people say it is hard to stick two cats in the same house and expect them to get along, but our cats have taken only 2 years to tolerate each other. Sure, they may never cuddle up together on a cold night, but they play together and eat together and don't beat each other up.

I am looking forward to throwing a puppy in the mix though. See how they react. They do tolerate dogs. One cat likes them more than the other, but I am positive it will work out.

I currently have a sixteen year old English spaniel and a one year old Roborovski dwarf hamster. I plan on rescuing two dogs and getting a pair of chinchillas once I get a place with a decent yard for the dogs and an extra room for the rodents. I am most definitely not a cat person. I don't hate them, but I have yet to meet a cat that I like, and I have met many since most of my friends are cat people. I am a rodent person though, which often strikes people as weird since a lot of people are scared of rodents, especially rats. I used to have a rat but when he got old he caught a respiratory infection and died suddenly.

Since I was a kid! We've always had dogs and cats, but the number of them and the size has gone from three blue heelers and a tribe of wild farm cats has shrunk to a young little cantankerous Rat Terrier that we picked up from a farm in Oklahoma and a marshmallow that acts like a cat , whom decides to visit sometimes when the neighbor isn't home (even if we technically own him). Yep, many have come through, but lately the herd has thinned.

I've always had pets. Whether they be cats, dogs, little furries, or reptiles. I always fall in love with all of the snakes at the reptile shows. Come to me my pretties! >:D

Currently I have two cats. One is a shelter rescue named Moogle. She loves everyone and if there is a lap, then she's in it. She has this adorable stubby tail. The other is a ragdoll named Zero Cool, and he has the most gorgeous blue eyes. He also knows how to turn light switches off and on... which is a little annoying at times.

  5. Aww :( Before we had the cats we had pet mice. Couldnt get cats until the last one of them passed away obviously. That mouse held on to life with all of its strength and I believe he was a little over 3 years when he died, which is incredibly old. To boot, he was the only mouse for about 6 months, and bonded with me during that time. Which is weird, because I never expected a mouse to be that much of a pet, in the way that I felt connected to him.

Rodents are awesome, and I was tempted to get a rat or two or ferret, but opted for cats because there were so many in need of a good home.

Hahaha... Aww... I love the photos of the kitties. :) The headphones one is just darling!

I have one cat (MORE than enough! LOL). He's 7 yrs old. I've had him since he was born. He's a big boy (not fat, just that big! He's 15lbs!). And... he's my little miracle! I nearly lost him twice to urinary issues. He's a happy, healthy cat now. I walk him around outside on a leash (I won't let him outside otherwise), taken him camping, gone on car rides with him, he gets monthly baths (and doesn't mind them), loves his toys especially if they are yellow or gold, he talks from time to time especially at lunch he will say "I want" or if he wants to go outside he will stand in the foyer and say "I want out". He's a smart bugger. :) He takes up half of my bed especially when he's laying on his back all spread eagle! LOL He's a cuddle bug at night. And my shadow most of the time.
His name is Magellan. A befitting name. Since the day he was born, he used to wander about. No joke! He often would roll out of the box but wouldn't fuss instead he would explore!
    He's quite the socialite, too.
He's the best cat I have ever had! Heck, the best pet I have ever had!

  7. He does look adorable, Lady B! Must be quite the cat, to allow baths. I tried it once with one of my cats; I have the scars to prove it...

I wish I could give my tomcat a bath. He is one of those cats who is accustomed to being groomed by other cats, due to having grown up in a huge cat colony. We always imagine him being surrounded by young female cats, licking him clean. He does have that maharadja look to him.

Of course, our female cat is way to independent to groom him. She actually seems to think he is 'dirty'. And, he is, if you look at his ears, which he doesnt clean properly. I have to do that for him. Don't know what that makes me. His servant at the very least. :P

LOL.. I've been giving him baths at least monthly since he was a couple months old. First bath was when he literally launched himself into the moist kitten food and wouldn't let his siblings eat it. LOL So, since then, he's been given baths. :) I trained him at a very young age to accept a lot. He sits at the table to eat his food, knows not to put his paws on the table any more. I have a highchair and stool for him to use.

LMAO!!! Oh, yes.. I can see that. :)

At the moment, I have two cats, three dogs and a rat. Looking to get more rats as they need company in order to truly do well.

I've got a cat named Binx. And 2 dogs- one border collie named Kumo and an English shepherd named Maximus. And then we have a horse named Charlie. Never mind the countless animals that just sort of show up at my house. I'm a really big cat lover, in particular.

  13. I currently have a domestic short hair grey cat named Gracie, she's almost 3 years old and has been 9 pounds for about 1 and a half of them, so she's just this tiny little thing. We're getting a dog soon too, Mom decided she really wanted one. I also have being housed at a friend's house an 8 month old boa constrictor named Sarah Jane. She's a little cutie x3

I have four cats, one of which is on my lap right now purring at the keyboard.

Callie is the cutest calico cat ever and my little buddy (and my lap cat). :) I got her from a vet clinic I was working at several years ago.[IMG]
(That's Callie and her little orange buddy)

Sunfire is the first "MY" cat I ever got, I've had her since she was an 8 week old kitten, a friend gave her to me my Junior year of college. She's really selective on the people she likes and dislikes pretty much most people except me and my hubby. She's got the typical cat "tude".
(she is in a beanbag and is a black cat so hard to photo)

Ryoko is a cat that was a "throwaway" by my hubby's friend many years ago because she reportedly "ninja kicked his 2 year old in the face". Well, that's a pretty awesome cat. :P
    [IMG]
(She's also a little "special". we call her derpy cat. ^^)

Crimson is our 18 and a half year old "Foster" cat, meaning she belongs to a doctor I work for, and we're keeping her at our apartment because my husband loves her. LOL She's very sweet, but old and grumpy. ;)
(That's her regular spot on the couch, because James sits next to that arm)

So there you be. :D Cats, cats cats ^^

  15. I've never really had pets. Growing up, my parents didn't like animals much, and so I was never allowed to have a cat or dog. I had various fish and turtles and one guinea pig I only got away with because I brought it home before they could say no (it had been from a friend's pig's litter).

But! I adopted two kittens this past Saturday. They are precious. This is Lulu (actually Lelouch, but) and this is Rin. The following is accurate to their personalities:

I used to have a guinea pig named Marshmallow (because he was white, tan, and black just like roasting a marshmallow ^^) when I was in elementary and middle school, unfortunately he passed away from pneumonia (but he lived a long life!). Now we have a shitzu named Misty who is way too hyper and thinks she's a child xD. She's a spoiled little brat, but we love her.

  18. Might be frowned upon, but I have an American Pit Bull Terrier. He's just the sweetest, most hyper dog I've ever had, but he's great with my kids.

Aw pit bulls are cute, it's sad that they have such a bad stigma with them =/ Just because some are mean due to whatever reasons doesn't mean all of them are!

I have a cat named Emily and two guinea pigs-cody and indy. Yeah but its still in Pit Bulls to act that way. its in the breed. that can't be taken out of them sadly. There's just too many incidents with them.
