Break free from the medieval stasis! Aethera is an original roleplaying world set in the pre-modern era where technology and sorcery coexist. Musketeers fight beside mages and swordplay is as common as gun-slinging.
Only ten years have passed since the Farian Empire fell, bringing an end to five thousand years of elven rule in Aethera. As the Farians rebuild their society, reuniting the kingdoms of their homeland as the renewed Union of Alfheim, human kingdoms in the west struggle against new threats. Magical rifts that rip through the sky with chaotic power have become more frequent, and in many territories, mages are regarded with suspicion. Meanwhile, war rages across the icy continent of Norlingdrak where the defenses of the native Norlings have fallen to the onslaught of human invaders.Even as tensions rise across the three continents, a new threat looms in the south. Marching across the lands like a swarm of locusts, a horde of undead known as the Cult of the Gate have declared a war on the kingdoms of men.
What kingdoms will fall, which will rise? What is the fate of Aethera? In a world that reacts to and interacts with its members, you decide! All major plots are reactive. The players determine the outcome of every major event.
