Do you use a Wiki?

I've recently added a Media Wiki to my website to function as a quick reference for little details snatched from the various anime worlds and characters I've observed. And now that I've begun entering data into it, I'm about work on some of the character information. I'm wanting to use a standardized template, mostly to ensure that there's consistency and minute details aren't forgotten, working almost like a prompt, or fill in the blank.

When you started working with your Wiki, did you start out by defining the templates first, or did you just write and then go back after you've added four or five entries and make a standardized template, knowing what pieces of information you were adding consistently? I understand that doing it backwards like this is counter-productive, but I've attempted to whip up the template first, and I constantly run into a form of writers block that I just can't seem to shake.
