Audio Audio Drama/Podcasts!

  1. I am kind of an audio drama/old radio/podcast madman so I thought that I'd share some of what I'm into lately and if anyone else is an audio weirdo like me, feel free to share as well. I will include links to generalized pages with my recommendations for episodes when that's appropriate.

Serve It Cold is one of the best free audiobooks I've ever heard. It has laughs, drama, mystery and fun galore: http://podiobooks.com/title/serve-it-cold/

I will just quote from the Harry Strange intro to explain this wonderful audio drama, "Magic and magical people–the ‘unnatural order’ is all around us. There are benevolent witches, malevolent witches, demons, vamps, werewolves, shape shifters, ghosts; it’s a protoplasmic party of creature features out there. But unless you know where to look, you won’t find them. I know where to look. My name is Harry Strange.” Hardboiled detective meets the supernatural. You can't go wrong: http://harrystrange.com/

The Lost Cat podcast is excellent fun. It's the adventures of a man who keeps losing his cat in a very peculiar city full of all manner of oddities: http://thelostcat.libsyn.com/podcast/

Atlanta Radio Theatre Company does great performances. This is my favourite adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's Shadow over Innsmouth but much of what they do is excellent as well: http://www.artc.org/2007/10/
and the rest of it: http://www.artc.org/2007/11/

I think this is good for now. I may send more stuff your way later.

Have you tried Welcome to Night Vale? It's sort of like if The Twilight Zone all happened within the town of Twin Peaks. They've also gotten big enough that sometimes they tour, and that's good fun! I'm lucky enough to live near a place they routinely hit up, and it's been fun watching them go from playing in cramped bookstores to selling out huge theaters in minutes.

I hit this thread to mention Night Vale, but Owl beat me to it. So I'll just second the recommendation. I adore Night Vale, and they're starting a new project too: Alice Isn't Dead, and I'm excited to check it out.

Old school radio drama, you can't go wrong with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So much fun.

Edit to add: I listened to Alice Isn't Dead today, and holy marinara, I am in love with it. Get in on the ground floor on this one.
